Speed — connect, test, document, next device

Consistency — every tech runs the same categories every shift
-
Clear station flow — agent/station processing with a clear path from connect to PDF (add multiple stations on Free; limits are workspace-wide)
Check Up is diagnostics-first for repair shops and trade-in / buyback shops. Free: 5 checks/mo · $0/€0/£0. Premium: US $25 · EU €21.90 · UK £19.90 (250 checks, 55 blacklist, a carrier-lock sample, roles, 6 mo history). API is available separately as a paid add-on (~$20 / €20 / £20).
Carrier-lock lookups are expensive. Use the Premium sample on real buys, then add packs when you need more.
Workflow steps (bench)
1. Connect
- Stage the device at the station (powered as your process requires)
- Connect via your USB / agent workflow per Check Up’s current agent/station instructions
- Confirm the device is recognized before starting diagnostics
2. Instant Diagnostics
Run Instant Diagnostics — internal + interactive — for iOS and Android. This is the fast pass that catches many failures before deeper app walks.
3. Mobile App Diagnostics
Walk the structured categories:
- Display
- Cameras
- Audio
- Sensors
- Controls
- Connectivity
Don’t skip categories because “the customer only complained about the screen” — intake and QC both benefit from the full pass when condition is disputed.
4. Review device info
Pull actionable info when available:
- Specs, SIM, battery
- Lock-related signals (iCloud/FMiP/MDM and similar)
- service history available so you know what’s been replaced (iOS)
5. Grade
Apply your shop’s grading profiles so Grade B means the same thing across shifts. Trade-in desks: see How to grade a used phone for trade-in.
6. PDF report & label
Export PDF reports and labels for the ticket, bag, or bin. Keep device history reports in the workspace (1 month Free · 6 months Premium).
7. Optional secured data erasure
When the device leaves the bench and your process requires a clean handoff, use secured data erasure.
8. Risk checks when buying (Premium)
If this station also buys phones: run IMEI blacklist (55/mo) and a carrier-lock sample on Premium before payout. Both checks are on Premium. See Carrier lock vs blacklist.
Bench tips (cabling, staging, volume)
Cabling & ports
Keep known-good cables at the station. Flaky cables waste more time than almost any software setting. Label charge-only vs data cables if your bench mixes them.
Staging
One device on the station at a time for diagnostics clarity. Queue the next unit powered/staged beside the bench — not mid-cable.
Intake first
Repair shops: run the device intake checklist before teardown so function failures are on record.
When to upgrade
- Out of Free’s 5 checks/mo → Premium 250
- You need separate logins and permissions → Premium users & roles (Free already supports multiple stations; limits are workspace-wide)
- Trade-in buying needs blacklist/locks → Premium limits above
- Longer history → Premium (6 months history)
Who this station serves
- Repair shops — intake + post-repair QC on the same flow
- Trade-in / buyback shops — function + grade + document before payout
- Shops that want Free to prove the station, then Premium when volume hits
Check Up is diagnostics-first — not a full POS. Station setup stays about diagnostics, grading, reports, and optional secured data erasure for clean handoff.

Example shift: repair morning + trade-in afternoon
Morning (repair)
Intake checklist → connect → Instant Diagnostics → Mobile App Diagnostics → device info → grade → PDF/label → quote. After repair, repeat functional pass before handback. Secured data erasure only if the customer/process requires a clean handoff.
Afternoon (trade-in)
Same station. Add Premium blacklist / carrier lock before payout when you’re buying. Keep grading profiles identical so “B” doesn’t drift between repair QC and buyback.
Same station workflow, two shop types, same diagnostics spine — add multiple stations on Free (limits workspace-wide). Product pages: Phone repair diagnostics software · Trade-in device testing.

Questions, answered
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special USB hardware SKUs?
Follow Check Up’s current agent/station documentation. Use the hardware requirements in those instructions.
Can Free support more than one station?
Yes. Free workspaces can add multiple stations. Free limits (5 checks/mo, 1 month history, etc.) apply to the whole workspace, not per station. Premium adds users & roles for separate logins and permissions — plus higher checks and risk-check limits.
Where does wipe fit in the station flow?
After diagnostics/grade/docs when the device leaves — secured data erasure for clean handoff.
Is this for buyback only?
No — repair intake/QC and trade-in desks both use the same station pattern.
How do I start?
Start Free, connect a real device, run Instant + Mobile App Diagnostics once end-to-end.
